Is this what the WTA looks like without Serena, Venus, and Kim? Just as their bodies are falling apart Vika and Caro are surging, combining to take the last four WTA tournaments (IW, Miami, Charleston, Marbella). As much as it annoys me, I guess there's something nice about having some level of stability to head off the "WTA is in crisis and every single fucking tournament is a free for all" arguments for at least a few weeks.
But did it have to be these two? I am happy for Vika, kinda. She's got so much talent and with the Marbella win she's broken into the Top 5. I thought going to Marbella after Miami was a bad call (though I'm sure she got paid a pretty penny to show up) but she was able to back it up after Sveta comploded against a player I have literally never heard of, denying us of a Vika/Sveta final. It'll be interesting to see how she holds up over the clay season though. Vika's never been as resilient as her sunshiney counterpart. But that's 11 straight matches for her. Watch your back, Nole.*
