Team Murray just got a little less sexy. Andy said he would go home and think about his coaching sitch. Looks like that tiny brain under the big fro did some noodling came to the conclusion that it's time to part ways with Alex Corretja.
Personally, as an Andy fan, I can't tell you if that's a good move or a bad move. Nor am I in the business of speculating wildly about every single reason why Andy sucks at tennis these days. Apparently that's what the British press get paid to do. Well, either they're paid to do it or else they just really love it as a hobby. Because Jesus, it's all they can talk about right now. Well, that and, if you're in the Miami press room, epic golf courses from around the world.
I mean, I get it, but I don't get it. This is probably the hopeless fan in me talking (there's actually not a hopeless fan *in* me, btw. It'd be rude to be blogging if that were the case), but didn't this all happen last year? And didn't he end up making the semis of Wimbledon? Andy Murray is a mystery for sure, it's why I love. But can't we all just acknowledge that he might, quite possibly, be fine? Some people need time. Give the emo dude some time to process everything and when he gets his head on right who knows what he'll be able to do at the next few Slams. He doesn't have Roger's effortless talent, he doesn't have Rafa's relentless drive, nor does he have that epic chip on his shoulder that seems to drive Novak. I don't know, sometimes I think he's just a normal dude who reacts and processes things like a normal dude would. Since when was being a normal person who processes disappointment in a normal way become a gaping character flaw?
Do whatever you need to do, Andy. Hide under your covers, hang out with Kim, let Maggie lick your face for the next 10 weeks. Sometimes time is the only solution and no friend, family, journo, pundit, or coach can force time to go faster. You just have to wait it out.
Wow. I really only meant to post the news about Alex. Clearly I needed to talk some shit out.
ANYWAY. Not to worry about the cuteness of Team Murray for too long. As we lose Alex we gain a more permanent, and arguably more adorable member of the team. Judy got a dog. Her name is Penny. I suspect that she's a little hornball, just like her momma.
