Wait...I thought the WTA side of things was supposed to be wide open. But so far, the only thing that's been surprising around these parts has been the uncommonly cool temperatures. After a week and a half of mild insanity, namely the early departures of Sam and Justine, we're now left with the world #1 Caro, #2 Vera, #3 Kim, and the only player to be undefeated this year, world #9 Na Li.
From a story standpoint, I think Nails would be the biggest, then Caro, then Vera, then Kim, but I'm really really rooting for a Nails/Vera final. That's a pair that I can get behind.
The ladies turn it around and will play their semis tomorrow. Vera and Nails have looked the strongest to be honest, but Kim's always going to be the favorite on hard courts and Caro...plays tennis and has a kangaroo. So who knows how it will all shake out.
Regardless, it's been a fantastic tournament for the WTA. The ladies have played the better matches, have been more entertaining off-court, and showed the heart and guts that only comes from the half of the population that has to push basketballs out of their vaginas and pretend that it's the greatest thing in all the world.
