Nails vs. Vika: Talk about a tough one to call. Nails is riding high and riding a wave of confidence here as she tries to defend her semifinal points. Vika meanwhile has quietly but devastatingly made it through without too much fanfare. I'm tipping Vika, but no result would surprise me here.
Petko vs. Masha: The German will get the night match on Laver that she missed out on when Venus retired, and she'll surely talk it over with Julia Goerges. As always, the match is on Masha's racquet. I don't think Petko has the movement or the pace that Julia has so I'm thinking it's a straight setter to Masha. But seriously, who knows what's going on with that serve of hers.
A-Rod vs. Stan: WIN, ANDY.
Nole vs. Nico: If it wasn't for Hisense I probably wouldn't even track this match. But it is Hisense. Win or lose, if Nole walks out of there alive it will be a victory.
Sveta vs. Fran: Two Slam champs not scheduled for Laver? That kind of blows. But I will be shocked, SHOCKED, if Sveta doesn't win this match. I will also be very disappointed. This is the point in the tournament where I put faves aside and start rooting for people who I think can actually win the tournament. Fran is literally on one leg and she looked horrible after her straigth set win the other day. I just don't think she has enough in the tank to win this tournament. So go, Sveta.
Tomas vs. Fer: I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS IS ON MCA!!! Like, this is a total boon for hardcore ATP fans. Both guys are playing well and I honestly don't know how it will go. Based on form, I'll tip Berdych because he's been more impressive through three rounds. But something tells me that Tipsy match lit a fire under Fernando and he's going to do something with this "second life". Either way, I will endure the heat to sit in the stands for this one. I think.
The Juniors start up tomorrow as well and seeing as how I only recognize two names in the draws, I guess I'll call them out:
Lauren Davis vs. Ashleigh Barty -- Let's see if the pint-sized phenom has recovered from her education in kickserves.
Genie Bouchard vs. Mana Ayukawa -- Hi Genie.
