"Sam always thought she had to hit backhand cross-courts with the best girls in the world. But the first thing I saw was: `Well, you've just got to hit backhands through the middle and lines to get more forehands. Why are you trying to go string for strings? Get it back on your terms'. No one had ever told her that and I can't believe that. It's pretty simple - the more forehands she gets, the more chances she has to win. It's not rocket science. Steffi Graf made a career out of it. And from then on, Sam said that (approach) just took all the pressure off to know she had this great shot she never (used before). She used to practise it for hours.I just told her: `If you're going to win 70 per cent of your points with your forehand and serve, well that's what you should be practising. Not practising the two per cent shot, and I think that's a big philosophy I've got."
-- David Taylor, on his convincing Sam that she is 70% awesome. Keep practicing your awesome, Sam.
