Day 1 went by with little fanfare or drama. Day 2 brings the return of Rafa, who's been sidelined since losing to Jurgen in Shanghai in the beginning of October. He'll take on A-Rod. They last met during Andy's white hot run through the Spring hardcourt season when Andy bounced Rafa in three sets on his way to the Miami title.
It's hard to know how Rafa's feeling physically but the year-end championships are one of the few empty checkmarks on his career card. He won't like this low-bouncing court but I'll take a well-rested Rafa any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
But the first singles match of the day will see Nole take on his Wimby dream-ruiner, Tomas. Nole's already exacted revenge during Davis Cup, but let's go ahead and double up, shall we? Given their current form it'll be a shock if Tomas can pull off the upset here.
