Nads was the more effective one today, dispatching Venus in straight sets. Not too shabby, Australian-Alternative-To Wax. She'll have Lena in the quarterfinals, which is a totally winnable match given Lena's physical ailments.
Classy stuff from Nads after the match:
Q. Now you eliminated the huge fashion sensation out of the tournament. How important is fashion to you? What do you think? What do you say on the court for you?
NADIA PETROVA: I like when, you know, the girls are dressed up differently and they try to bring some fashion from just regular life into the court. Even, you know, for example, I always like to be I'm really happy that I wear a line that nobody actually have.
I must say, you know, the dress that Venus wore, must have little guts to do that. (laughter.)
Q. Venus said about you today that you didn't do anything super special, but you were consistent. Is that a fair assessment?
NADIA PETROVA: I would say so. I would say so.
I mean, special for me was that I was mentally focused and I get my nerves calm. Besides that, you know, I played consistent, solid tennis. I came up with the good shots when it was necessary.
That's it. I don't think I've done anything spectacular today.
