You. Were. Awesome.
Hopman Cup was warm fuzzies. Too bad they couldn't all win. L-Rob was a completely different player by the end of the week than she was at the beginning. So awesome to watch her develop the nerves and confidence to really impose herself by the end of the week. MJMS is the highest ranked player she's ever beaten, and since MJMS is ranked #26, that's no mean feat. It'll be interesting to see if she can ride this into the regular season-- she was awarded a wild card into AO qualifying, which will be the perfect storm of riding the confidence wave + encountering the mounting stress of almost outlandish expectations. Godspeed, young L-Rob.
Tommy was playing like he thought he was at Davis Cup. Team down a point + clutch situation = Spanish players en fuego. He wasn't playing poorly in the first set, but by the second set it was more like he refused to lose. Amazing stuff. Andy's level fell off a little in the third set, and he seemed to have a muscle niggle, but Tommy still stepped it up above and beyond.
