So it'll be JJ vs. Masha in the Tokyo final, which given the calamity of the early part of the week, ain't a bad final at all. JJ had a challenging road, having to beat Mono and Nails, two players who for whatever reason, totally own her. So good for JJ who look on her way to recapturing her form. That said...yeesh...last night's match against Nails wasn't pretty.
As for Masha, it's been a bit of a banner week for her as she's reintroduced her old service motion and pounded her way to her second straight WTA final. Things got a little bit wobbly last night against Aga, but once she bore down in the third it was over pretty quick.
Maria leads this childhood showdown 4-1, with her last win being the 3 and 1 demolishing on her way to the AO 08 title. I give the edge to JJ right now, but you never know with the mind games between these two.
