Well Stanford was the Williamses in a nutshell. If it ain't a Slam, Serena can and will lose early and Venus, while more consistent than Serena, can go wonky at any time and lose to consistent hitters.
Hell of a performance by Mono, who wavered a bit but sacked up and courageously stepped up her game late in the third for the win. This is only her first WTA Premier title. I really didn't think she had it in her. I figured, as most of us probably did, that she'd crumble under the pressure. So all credit to Mono for finding the will to fight on, especially after missing her chances serving for the match. I guess the bathroom break after the second set helped. Amazing what five minutes in heaven with your laminated picture of Pierce Brosnan can do.
I hope she doesn't get eaten by that bear!!!
