If you've been following Forty Deuce for the past few months you probably know that this ain't no freewheeling site where anything goes. Bottom line? There are commenting rules. If you haven't read the original commenting rules, you should probably familiarize yourself. Hell, even if you have read the rules you might want to read them over again to refresh yourself.
As I mentioned in my original post, there were additional rules that I was contemplating. I had hoped that I wouldn't have to institute additional rules but it looks like I need to in order to keep the comments orderly and easy to read.
So in addition to the original rules here are the new ones:
- Keep comments on-topic: This is a tennis blog, not a social networking site. Keep the comments about tennis and on-topic with respect to the post. If you want to shoot the shit either take it offline or do it in the cbox (to the extent that you keep it clean).
- Be substantive: Again, this is a TwoP rule that I'm instituting here. Posting a simple "Me too!" or "LOL!" or "I totally agree!" without adding anything substantive to the conversation is a waste of a comment.
- Don't pimp your shit: I've been having to delete a lot of posts and cbox messages over the last few months from people trying to pimp their own sites, products, etc. Look, if you want to pimp your shit just email me. Otherwise, it's just bad internet etiquette.
Posting comments is a privilege, not a right. I'll be dropping the hammer with more frequency going forward by deleting comments and banning repeat offenders.
