Interesting piece by James Martin, who argues, like many of you have, that coke ain't a big deal with respect to sports.
I thought this was the most compelling part of the argument:
I get the argument and I don't necessarily disagree. Particularly in light of the lesser punishments given to players who have used performance enhancing drugs. But I still can't help but blanch at the people who are coming out of the woodwork and saying that he should be banned for only three months because coke isn't a big deal. I worry about any lesser "slap on the wrist" type response as being construed as "coke isn't as bad as 'roids."
I guess my stance on the whole thing is that he shouldn't get more than what 'roiders would get, he can get less, but not much less.
Yeah, I'm controversial like that.
