You can stop the streak, but you can't stop the Rafa. Fact.
Congrats to Rafa for winning his 5th straight Monte Carlo trophy, beating Nole 63 26 61 in the final. He withstood solid challenges by Muzz and Nole on his way to defending his title, leaving no doubt that he is still the King of Clay.
And all credit to Nole, who played a heck of a match to take the second set 6-2, breaking Rafa's streak of 31 sets at Monte Carlo. I mean, it's one thing to take a set from Rafa on clay, it's another to take it 6-2. He successfully executed an all out attack game through that second set. Unfortunately for Nole, there's no tougher competitor than Rafa and to beat him you have to keep that level for an entire match. Nole couldn't and Rafa ran away with the final set. Nevertheless, the Falcon should gain a lot of confidence from here.
On to Barcelona.
