That was one hell of a showing by the Swiss #2. He pushed Rafa to two tiebreakers but in the end, Rafa is Rafa, and as the ATP commentators noted, "he's just an animal". But seriously, Stan was awesome. So much to take away from this match. As for Rafa, well they say you always get a bit of a scare in the early rounds. Here's hoping this was it.
With Rafa's win closing out the night session, it looks like we have all of the 7 of the top 8 seeds going into the quarterfinals. And really, the #7 seed that was beat was Gilly, who was beat by Jo. So it's not like the quality of the field took a hit. All this is to say, game on.
