Poor Fer. It was the match that everyone was waiting for (before we knew what a scorcher the Elf match would be) but Fer pulled up lame right out the gate. He pulled a glute muscle in the second game of the match and with that, all was lost. Muzz walked away with an easy 61 62 won as Fer was forced to hobble around the court and limp to the finish line.
I though the Adidas Player Development Program, aka "The Bunny Ranch", was supposed to be all about fitness? I hope Gil & Co. know that the more muscle mass Fer puts on (20lbs of muscle, apparently) the more stress he's going to put on his body. Look at Jo's inability to stay injury free. That's a lot of weight to stop and start around a court. Take a cue from your not-so-good buddy, Rafa. Drop some weight, buddy.
All credit to Fer for finishing the match, I guess, though he was clearly hurting. Hopefully he didn't aggravate it more than he should have by continuing to play.
So yeah, boring match. But there was one choice moment. Fer took a bathroom break and the camera stayed on Andy during the change. Viva La Vida came on he basically sang along to the whole song. It was completely adorkable. Can't wait to see if it gets posted on YouTube.
So it'll be Muzz/Elf in the semis tomorrow night. I love you, Elf, but please, Andy. Win.
