"When I played for South Africa's Fed Cup Team, we
had to play the Czech Republic in 2003. It was a World Group delegation
match. We had won the qualifying competition that we played over one
week. It was tough. Czech Republic lost in the World Group and was
playing basically to switch spots with us. South Africa didn't want to
pay my airfare to the tie in South Africa (I was in the US at the
time.) I didn't play. I find it very ironic now. I am playing for a
first world nation in the semifinal of Fed Cup now against the same
team. South Africa didn't win. I am hoping for a different result for
Team USA!"
Good stuff, Liezel. Now excuse me while I'm off to add Kaes as a friend on Facebook. Or maybe I'll sit here and stare at his picture. Same thing, really.
