Check this out. Top Spin Tennis Blog calculated the amount of points the Big Four have to defend in the clay season:
Points to defend: Nadal 1,000, Federer 700, Djokovic 450, Murray 150.
Rome Masters (27 April-3 May)
Points to defend: Nadal 10, Federer 250, Djokovic 1,000, Murray 70.
Madrid Masters (10-17 May)
Points to defend: Nadal 1,000, Federer 700, Djokovic 450, Murray 150.
French Open (24 May-7 June)
Points to defend: Nadal 2,000, Federer 1,400, Djokovic 900, Murray 150.
Total: Nadal 4,010, Federer 3,050, Djokovic 2,800, Murray 520.
Going into this week, here are the point tallies:
Roger : 11020 (-3450)
Nole: 9010 (-5460)
Muzz: 8840 (-5630)
As I've said a number of times, there's no reason Muzz can't play well on clay. Based on that, I say Muzz comes out of the clay season if not at #2, at least within easy striking distance to leave Wimbly as the #2 player in the world. How nutty would that be?
