Here's the Miami men's draw.
A couple of interesting storylines for Miami. If Muzz wins the tournament and Nole loses before the fourth round, Muzz will take over the #3 spot. That would make him the highest ranking British player since the computer rankings were introduced in the 70s. As Muzz looks to displace Nole, Rafa looks to complete the "Transcontinental Slam" (IW/Miami double) and solidify his newfound dominance on hard courts. These hard court points are just a bonus anyway as we're going to be heading into the clay season shortly.
But it's going to be a tough road to get there for both players and they're going to have to go through each other. The top half of the draw is loaded and that's where they both are. For Rafa, barring an physical or mental letdown he should make it to the semis fairly easily. He's got a potentially tricky matchup with Dir Ivo, but otherwise I don't see anyone who will give him too much trouble if he's on his game.
As for Muzz, he's got Nalby, Gonzo, and Fer in his draw, in addition to the always unpredictable Steps and Reeshie. He's also still getting his form after coming off that virus. Can he maintain his form and make a run to the semis to meet Rafa in (hopefully) normal weather? That would be an interesting rematch.
On the bottom half I'm still picking Nole to get to the semis. Neither Gilles or Jo have been particularly impressive this season and I think Nole is getting his game to the point where he can beat the players he's supposed to beat. As for the other side, I'd slot Roger into the semis, beating A-Rod on the way. Ownage is ownage and I just don't see Andy pulling off another upset this year.
So in otherwords I'm picking the Big 4 to get to the semis. Shocker.
