The top half seems loaded with potential upsets. Dinara's quarter has Snot Rocket lurking, and Mono (who just won a title in Monterrey this past week) and Vika. I would love to see a Dina/Vika matchup in the quarters. All I know is Dina better not complain of being tired during this tournament.
The other side of the top half is anchored by Bepa and Kuz (so really, just Bepa). But Boots, Momo, CSN, and Na Li are all lurking on that side, too. I'd be pretty shocked if Bepa didn't come out of this quarter though.
In the bottom half, Ana has the most straightforward road to the quarters. No flat hitters to boot her off the court, though Flavs can always be tricky. Unfortunately the fun ends there because lurking on the other side of her quarter are Lena and Zheng Jie, two forms of Baby E Kryptonite. I'd like to see a match between Lena and Zheng. They play pretty similar games, though Zheng hits flatter. Hard not bet against history here though. I pick Lena out of this quarter.
Lastly you have the quarter anchored by JJ and her BFF, A-Rad. A-Rad's section is the Battle of the Babies, with the Cone and Szavay there. But Tranny, Sam, and Lucie are there to bring some veteran flair to the table. I think we'll have a surprise come out of this section. I'm actually going to go with the Cone here, assuming she's put her horrible start of the season behind her.
The other half of this quarter is anchored by JJ and Domi. Here I'm curious to see a JJ/Kleybs match, but only if Kleybs can bring the game that she brought in Melbourne. Otherwise, forget it. Either way, I'll take JJ out of this section.
Man, it's such a crapshoot right now. I'm not sure who I'd pick for this tournament. So I'm going to reserve judgment until I get to see them play a round or two.
