I was busy at Beer Olympics and didn't get to watch it live. Luckily, the match was only 55 minutes long so it was easy to rewatch this morning. That was 55 minutes of sublime tennis from Serena. Poor, Dina. She really was "just a ballboy on the court today." It's fun to imagine what would have happened if Dina hadn't DFed in the second game and held serve to go 1-1. But really, I don't think anyone thinks that Dinara could have beaten Serena today.
This was just such a great performance for Serena to not only get her 10th Grand Slam but also the #1 ranking. As they said during the match, when Serena is at her best, no one in the women's game can touch her. No one. Isn't it ironic that order has been restored by Crazy ReRe?
Poor Dina. It's never good to walk off the court thinking "Well, at least I didn't get double bageled". After the match she blamed nerves related to the prospect of the #1 ranking. When will coaches ever learn. DON'T TELL THEM #1 IS ON THE LINE. EVER. I blame Zeljko for that one.
Always a bridesmaid, never a bride? Will she get her chocolate wedding cake in Paris? I wouldn't bet against it.
