On the heels of last week's article on Dinara, yesterday's article on Kuzzie, now Peter Bodo weighs on the curious case of the Glitter Queen's very solid chances of ending the season at #1:
"And let's face it: Jankovic is many things, almost all of them delightful. But she's not a great player - not yet."
Yerp. That's how I feel. She's very good, but not great. Then again, unless Serena or Masha finished number 1, I'm pretty sure anyone would be criticized for the same reason. People still have doubts about Ana and Dinara has yet to win a major. So it's a pretty unfair criticism of JJ. But that doesn't mean it's not true.
So it's time to start getting used to it, folks. I'm fairly certain JJ will finish as the year end #1 and head into the Australian Open as the #1 seed*. Do you think she'll spend the off-season bedazzling that #1 trophy?
Probably.
*Confession: I kinda hope I'm jinxing her. Not really. Kinda. Yeah, I am.
