That's right folks, AI got a straight set win today over an (arguably) tough opponent in Mono Bartoli, 62 64. She served at 74%, had 5 aces, and 1 double fault. The match really should have been closer to 62 62, but Ana being Ana had a bit of a brain fart at the end of the second set, needing a few games to close it out. That causes me a little bit of concern (she really needs to recapture that killer instinct) but at this point a win is a win.
Next up, Petra Kvitova. They played just a few months ago in Montreal, where Ana debuted her busted thumb. AI was still able to win in three sets. Kvitova is infuriating to watch. If she's on she can beat almost anyone. She just goes for her shots irrespective of position, circumstance, or balance, and either it's in or it's out. There is no rhythm at all.
In bummer news, Bepa retired from her match due to injury. In other words, this tourney is Ana's or Venus' to win. Come on, girls.
