The most anticipated women's match is set for tomorrow between the Sisters Williams. This one is a tough call as they have both been nails this tournament. Neither has really been tested. They have simply overpowered each and every opponent and they both have that look of a champion.
Serena has the better serve. It's not as powerful as Venus' but she has a better second serve and it's more consistent. Groundstrokes are fairly even, though I give Serena the edge because she's less whippy and more controled in her strokes. But Venus has been attacking the net with amazing frequency and success this tournament and that's where my pick of Serena worries me. The only way I see Venus winning is if she can get to the net and force Serena to execute tough passing shots regularly.
It's a tough one to call and it's basically a flip of the coin. But I'm going to give the edge to Serena because she's hungrier. She doesn't have a Slam this year and if she gets it she'll claim the #1 ranking, which in a cosmically just world she deserves.
But at the end of the day I hope it's a good one. Their Wimbledon final finally lived up to the hype. Let's hope this one on home soil will do the same.
