So JJ dismissed the overachieving Mama Bammer 61 64. Routine win, right? Seems like JJ has found her form? Gonna take it to Lena D. and the Williams/Dinara?
Let's look past the scoreline, shall we? The Glitter Queen was broken four times by the #26 seed Bammer. She on the other hand, converted 8 of 19 break points. 8 of 19. Do we REALLY think that's going to cut it against Serena? Venus? Dinara? Even Elena seems to have fixed her serve. Will it even work on Elena?
Ok, it could work on Elena.
But still, this is the problem with JJ's game and this is why as much as I love her, she'll never win a slam. It's fine to get broken if you can easily break back. But against the top girls who have bigger serves, JJ can't easily break back. And with her weak serve, she's going to get broken regularly. So she can skate by against these lower ranked players. But against the elite, I just don't see it happening.
Knowing JJ she will totally prove me wrong. Just to spite me. Specifically me. She will come out during the final (assuming she makes it, which is a big assumption) with her leg wrapped and she will write on the tape "Suck it, Forty Deuce." And she'll be as glittery as ever.
