It pains me to put this guy's smug-ass face on my blog. But I do it for you guys. I do it all for you.
A-Rod beat Gonzo tonight, 2 4 and 1, but the reality is Gonzo beat himself hitting 33 unforced errers. All credit to Andy who had an incredibly clean and efficient match. He served only 8 aces, but in Nadal-like fashion, hit only 8 unforced errors for the match. Now that is some spot-on tennis. On a day that saw Nole and Fed go five sets and Muller the qualifier upset Davydenko, things are starting to look pretty darn good for Andy, eh?
So good in fact, that he's decided to start throwing down against Nole in the war of words.
Q. When asked about his injuries today, mentioning the right ankle as opposed to the left ankle, the other day ‑‑
ANDY RODDICK: Isn't it both of them? And a back and a hip?
Q. And when he said there are too many to count.
ANDY RODDICK: And a cramp.
Q. Do you get the sense right now that he is...
ANDY RODDICK: Bird flu.
Q. Lot of things. Beijing hangover.
ANDY RODDICK: Yeah.
Q. He's got pretty long list of illness.
ANDY RODDICK: Anthrax. SARS. Common cough and cold.
Q. Got a lot of things going on with him.
ANDY RODDICK: Sure.
Q. Do you think he's bluffing?
ANDY RODDICK: No, I mean, I'm sure ‑‑
Q. The way you're saying it, almost means you feel like...
ANDY RODDICK: No, if it's there, it's there. There's just a lot. You know, he's either quick to call a trainer or he's the most courageous guy of all time. I think it's up for you guys to decide.
It's crap like this that makes me unable to stomach Andy. Totally unnecessary. And you know he would never ever say this about Rafa or Roger.
And JUST when I was turning the corner on him. I was actually kind of rooting for him to take the whole thing. Nevermind.
